Usage of tenuate, may in some cases lead to:
- Blurred vision
- Dry mouth
- Sleeplessness and irritability
- Stomach upset or constipation may occur the first few
days as your body adjusts to the medication
- Other adverse effects include central nervous system
disturbances, gastrointestinal disturbances and changes
in libido. If these effects persist or become bothersome,
you may have to discontinue use.
If tenuate makes you dizzy or lightheaded, avoid driving
or engaging in activities requiring alertness. Alcohol can
increase unwanted side effects of dizziness. Hence, it is
advisable not to drink while taking tenuate. Moderate amount
of chest pain, pounding heart and breathing difficulties or
swelling may also occur while taking this medication.
Contra-indications: Tenuate is contraindicated
in patients with arteriosclerosis, cardiovascular disease
and moderate to severe hypertension.
Some medicines or medical conditions may interact with this
medicine. Inform your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription
and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking. Do not
use tenuate if you are also taking furazolidone, guanadrel,
guanethidine or monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). Inform
your doctor of any other medical conditions, allergies or
if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Do clear out any questions
or concerns about using this medicine with your doctor or
pharmacist.
