Ionamin is an appetite suppressant used along with diet, exercise
and behavior therapy for the short-term management of obesity.
Before using ionamin a word about Drug Interactions:
- Some Drugs or medical conditions may interact with this
medicine. Inform your Doctor or Pharmacist of all prescription
and over-the-counter medicine that you are taking.
- Do not use ionamin if you are also taking Furazolidone,
Guanadrel, Guanethidine or Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors
(MAOIs).
- Inform your doctor of any other medical conditions,
allergies, pregnancy or if you are breast-feeding.
- Contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions
or concerns about using this medicine
Ionamin is an effective form of therapy for the patient who
needs to lose weight to decrease diseases associated with
significant obesity. The magnitude of the weight loss will
depend on the degree of caloric restriction and the use of
exercise.
Directions to use Ionamin
- Take Ionamin pill once a day, 30 to 60 minutes before
food.
- The pill can be cut into half but do not crush or chew
it.
- Take Ionamin during the first phase of the day. Some patients
can have disturbed sleep if taken in the evening.
- Follow pill instructions before taking the pill.
Ionamin side effects Ionamin side effects
are visible in the first couple of days:
Dry mouth, Sleeplessness, Stomach upset, Irritability, Constipation.
If the symptoms persist, medical help should be sought.
Warning
People with overactive thyroid, high blood pressure and emotional
problems should consult a doctor before taking the pill. It
is better to avoid medicines, which will increase the heart
rate. Even a medicine taken for common cold or cough could
have some effect. Alcohol will increase the chances of dizziness
while taking Ionamin. |
