Any physical or emotional change
which you have to adjust to is referred to as stress.
It is often caused by negative events like death, strain
in relationships or problems in business. Stress has
a positive side to it as well, like lots of responsibilities
which lead to a promotion and result in stress. So does
obesity creep in every where there's stress?
Not all the time. But generally we
have a tendency to eat well and eat more when we are
not concentrating. This occurs when we just cannot handle
stress and binge in order to hide it. In a way stress
has been linked to obesity. When your stress is not
treated, weight gain occurs in no time giving scope
for undisciplined eating habits even after your stress
period.
Tension, worry, difficulties are all
stress related examples which connect you to obesity.
That's why health practitioners say don't eat when you
are depressed or angry because you don't realize the
amount of food that's been taken in. Eat when you are
calm and in a mood to enjoy. Don't eat for the sake
of it. You will end up being fat and even more depressed.
Usually the binge pattern which follows
stress comes in three phases. In the beginning the individual
has some stress or anxiety and he feels like doing some
thing. But he is not aware of what to do. After that
he has this sudden urge to do some thing and feel better.
Eating is the easiest form of activity readily available
and the depressed individual takes to it. Once you have
opened up your stomach to a whole lot of food, it's
difficult to cut it down unless you work on it. In many
cases obesity sparks of in this manner.
There aren't too many things you can
do because you are not in control of your body and mind
when you are stressed. But you could keep off food and
indulge in activities which are less threatening in
order to divide attention. Since it's not possible to
get rid of all the stresses in life, it's best to know
ways to cope with stress so that emotions doesn't translate
into negative feelings especially overweight-ness.
