According to Cynthia Stadd, Director of Nutrition Services
at The Berkley Center, there are certain simple changes
that must be inculcated for a healthy lifestyle.
Firstly, for a healthy living, the
caffeine intake should be controlled because it is a
vasoconstrictor which causes blood vessels to constrict.
Secondly, it is necessary to follow a diet plan that
is suited to your lifestyle. Why I am saying - suited
to your lifestyle - because every person has his own
specific way of living defined by the type of work in
which he or she is involved, social factors and other
attributes. But one thing which must be common to any
diet plan is the presence of crucial elements of a healthy
diet. A diet must include vegetables, grains, nuts,
seeds, and a minimal animal protein. You should also
discuss your diet plan with your physician - the type
of foods, quantities of nutrients, food preparation
techniques etc.
The third and the most important tip to good health
is to drink a lot of water. This doesn't refer to drinking
various types of vitamin or high energy drinks available
in the market. They might not be as good as you think
of them.
You also need to avoid junk food. Junk food consists
of food like chocolate, chips, soft drinks, cordials,
cakes, ice cream, potato chips and takeaway foods, such
as burgers, hotdogs or hot chips. They are occasionally
good for enjoyment but a regular eating of these items
increases the risk of obesity, vitamin and mineral deficiency
and other health related problems.
Apart from these, the quantity of dairy intake must
also be checked. According to a recent study, dairy
products may not be much helpful in losing weight. In
the past, it has been a common understanding that the
more calcium you take, the greater weight you can lose.
But in reality, this is not the case as a high calcium
intake can bring up unnecessary weight in the long run.
It is also important to keep a check on your unhealthy
cravings. However, it does not mean that you start skipping
your meals. Skipping your meals only makes the situation
difficult for you. Instead, start your day by eating
your breakfast and include good amount of nutrient components
in it.
A Good Nutrition also plays a significant role towards
reproductive health. Seek advice of your nutritionist
time to time. He/She can help you to manage and workout
your health related problems. Regular meetings with
your Nutritionist will assist you in developing a manageable,
doable exercise routine, reduce and manage stress on
a day-to-day basis and support you in your journey to
fitness.
