Eating disorders are predominant in today's world. People
all over the world are nowadays crazy and obsessed about
weight loss. Every body is trying his level best for
attaining a slim and svelte figure. The intelligent
one are opting for exercise and other positive ways
of weight loss whereas a rare breed of us are doing
it by skipping food and going for excessive dieting
which can prove fatal to their life.
Most of us are not fully aware of the
term "Eating Disorder," that's why when we
hear of someone with an eating disorder, we automatically
tend to assume that the person has a problem with food.
But in actual terms, eating disorders are not an indication
that a person has a problem with food. In reality, they
are actually only the symptoms of serious underlying
problems in that person's life. But the best part is
that with proper medical intervention, people can fully
recover from these disorders and get back to their normal
self.
Anorexia nervosa is one such disorder which is playing
havoc by ruining the lives of several young people worldwide.
This abnormal trait of behavior is characterized by
a significant weight loss resulting from excessive dieting.
Most young women and men desire to have a thin structure
as they are petrified of being obese. They always fear
of becoming obese and due to this, this group of people
can go to any length to remain thin.
The strangest fact about the anorexics is that they
consider themselves to be fat even if they are normal
or thin in reality. Underweight anorexics are often
tormented by their mental state of mind which keeps
alerting them to lose weight. In their attempts to become
even thinner, the anorexia nervosa patients tend to
avoid food at any cost in severe cases, results in their
death.
People suffering from this dreaded disorder usually
suffer from a very low self-esteem and sometimes feel
they don't deserve to eat. The toughest part about anorexics
is to make them agree for pursuing treatment. The anorexics
usually resist any attempts to help them because the
idea of therapy or medical help is seen only as a way
to force them to eat. It's a proven fact that a combination
of psychological, nutritional and medical care is required
to bring them back to normal. Treatment is the only
viable option for getting rid off this dreaded disease.
