Cellulite is nothing but fat; it is the modern name
for fat collection in the body. The collective fats
in body, changes the look of the skin and makes it like
orange peel. One can easily identify cellulite in the
body.
Cellulite is generally associated with
overweight and obesity. It affects more women than men.
Due to the hormonal changes in a woman’s system,
she begins to acquire cellulite during her mid thirties.
Thighs are the prime target but cellulite can collect
in their stomach and arms too.
Types of Cellulite: You can collect
hard and soft cellulite
in the body. Hard cellulite is difficult to identify
right away, as it sticks to the muscle structure, and
does not show very easily. Hard cellulite is common
in active people, especially dancers. Soft cellulite
is not as concentrated as hard cellulite, but it occupies
larger areas, is loose and more noticeable as it hangs
and sags. It results in poor muscle tone and the skin
dilates easily.
Causes of cellulite in body differ from person to person.
1: Genes- There are more chances of
you collecting the cellulite in the body, if it is visible
in your parents too. If you don’t take proper
action, chances are that you probably end up with cellulite.
2: Gender- Hormones work as the worst
enemies of women in their mid-ages. During their younger
days, oestrogen encourages the fat-storage required
for menstruation and pregnancy. But its sister hormone,
progesterone keeps it in perfect balance. With age,
however, the production of progesterone slows, and excess
oestrogen circulates freely.
3: Age- As the age increases, body
begins to produce more free radicals [molecules that
cause havoc in blood cells and weaken the connective
tissue]. This weakened connective tissue develops abnormally,
eventually creating the uneven, dimpled appearance we
all recognize as cellulite.
4: Life style- Lack of exercise, weight
gain and water retention all contribute to insufficient
circulation in the smallest of blood vessels. Poor circulation
stops fat burning. The earliest visible sign of poor
circulation is slow-healing cuts and bruises.
5: Eating habits
a. Eat high fiber fruits and vegetables.
b. Take away salt from dinning table.
c. Avoid artificial additions like sweeteners and coloring
in food.
d. Drink water as much as you can.
e. Reduce alcohol in your life style.
