Obesity is spreading its wings with each passing day.
To overcome this grave problem, people are forever going
on diets to lose those extra pounds and they often swear
by low-carb diets such as Atkins or South Beach. Till
date most of us have tried so many diets still no one
can claim which one is the world's best diet? Well,
according to an American diet expert, it's neither the
South Beach, nor the Atkins diet, but the Caveman diet
which is the best and most beneficial fad diet of our
time.
Caveman diet refers to going back to ones roots and
returning to the kind of food eaten by our earliest
ancestors who used to reside in caves and survived on
foods like lean meat, vegetables and fruits. The best
part about caveman diet is that our bodies are still
tuned to processing the kind of food that cavemen ate
i.e. food and on the other hand our bodies still finds
it difficult to digest dairy or processed foods such
as breads, cookies etc.
Caveman diet emphasizes on the belief that excessive
intake of carbohydrate leads to weight gain as it increases
our insulin and fat storage which leads to various ailments
such as obesity, hypertension, heart disease and diabetes.
This unique diet plan almost resembles the familiar
nutritionists' food pyramid--turned upside down. Though
it's a meat-rich diet still it's in many ways healthier
than our own regular diet plan. Besides controlling
our weight, this unique diet plan can truly benefit
our brain.
The caveman diet or Paleolithic diet is based on a very
simple concept of eating like our "Stone Age"
ancestors as it helps in losing weight and leading a
healthier and happier life. The caveman and cavewoman
were fed on a radically different diet than most of
us are accustomed to. In those days, there was no agriculture
so they relied heavily on meat, fish and seafood, berries,
vegetables (mostly root vegetables except potatoes which
arrived much later) and nuts. Research suggests that
the caveman didn't have a longer life but as an early
society, they were healthier, taller and stronger as
compared to our generation.
So, this diet can be tried out to bring a difference
to your weight and appearance.
